Susan grew up in a family of makers and learned to sew before starting school. Her love for art and needlework came together in 2008 when she began quilting as an art form, often cutting and piecing fabric freehand.
Since then, she has regularly won awards at the National Quilt Festival and earned Master Quilter status in 2011. Susan has held solo exhibitions, including one at the Potchefstroom Museum Gallery in 2014 and a 2021 show featuring both quilts and abstract oil paintings in Tulbagh. Her work has been part of national and international traveling exhibitions, including “Circular Abstractions” curated by Nancy Crow.
As a teacher, Susan meets students where they are, helping them build skills and confidence with joy.
