Santie began quilting in Pretoria in 1989, initially focusing on candle wicking and embroidery before discovering her passion for fabric and patchwork. Needleturn appliqué, especially Baltimore Quilts, captured her heart, inspired by quilting books brought home by her son from the USA.
Since joining the Good Hope Quilters’ Guild in 2020, Santie completed the SAQG Teachers Accreditation Course and now teaches English Paper Piecing and hand sewing techniques in a relaxed, detailed style. She loves precision piecing, eco-conscious sewing, and embraces slow, mindful stitching in her classes.
