Learn essential appliqué techniques - raw edge, hand embroidery, and stitched embellishments - while playing with colour, texture, and layout. Perfect for confident beginners and beyond, this class guides you through creating a beautiful block that can stand alone or become part of a larger quilt. Come stitch with purpose and leave with a smile - and a piece that spreads kindness, one stitch at a time.
The compulsory kit contains the pattern, appliqué paper and notes.
- Fabric:
a) Background squares: (9) 5½” x 5½” light fabrics (tone-on-tone or low volume)
b) Variety of small scraps for appliqué flowers, leaves, bee, and hexagons (include brights, prints, and solids)
- Light fusible web (HeatnBond Lite, Appliqué paper or Steam a Seam lite)
- Medium Stitch and Tear stabiliser – at least 21 inches square
- 21-inch square iron-on batting
- Needle and thread for hand stitching (DMC embroidery floss in colour of your choice)
- Neutral sewing thread for piecing
- Pins
- Cutting mat and rotary cutter with new blade
- B4 or B6 pencil for drawing the appliqué shapes as well as placement on your background fabric. Can also use a blue water-soluble pen for drawing on your background
- Sharp Scissors- Fine tip Fabric Scissors and paper scissors
- Fabric glue stick (optional)
- Appliqué pressing sheet (recommended)
- Sewing machine in good working order; oiled, cleaned and ready to go
