In this very creative and “not square at all” little quilt, we will use different techniques to stitch the 29 stars without cutting them out... You will be taught to stitch loose entities as well which will open doors in future to use as a creative tool. Learn about balance and subtle use of colour. Very playful and most twinkling experience.
Student Requirements:
The compulsory kit contains a pattern; Vilene; water-soluble fabric; bling netting; bird’s nest and creative wool (you can add to this if you want to have more options)
- Basic Sewing Supplies
- Fabric:
o Background Fabric: 24cm x 32cm Hand-dyed in your favourite colours (cotton, mottled with movement and interesting – subtle multi-colour). This fabric will set the tone of your little quilt!!!
o 3 cm strips for binding in the same background fabric or similar fabric (approx. 135cm x 3cm)
o Backing Fabric 24cm x 32cm (complementing the front )
o Thin batting 24cm x 32cm
o A great colour variety of solid cotton fabrics and 3 subtle patterned fabrics; taffeta /satin, felt and netting to complement your background and some with a little contrast
o My quilt is made up of medium, dark and bright blues, purples and greens with a touch of red. PLAN YOUR COLOUR SCHEME BEFORE THE CLASS. I will be available to assist you with your choices before the Festival
o 2 Different colour nettings
- Thin creative wool to finish off on strips on the border (bring options)
- Variety of shiny and cotton machine threads (not variegated). Study the class example
- Cutting mat and rotary cutter with a new blade
- Sewing machine in good working order;
o Appliqué presser foot and
o Darning presser foot
- Extension cord, 15 amp plug or adaptor, surge protector plug
