The simple, no measuring Improv technique is used to create the trees. Then the fun begins as they are decorated. Various embellishing techniques will be used including beading, couching and embroidery. A great way to use up left-over fabrics, odds and ends. Different methods of finishing off the postcards will also be discussed. Students will go home with miniature quilts which can have messages written on the back and given as Christmas gifts.
Fabric: o 2 x squares of contrasting fabrics 7.5 inches x 9.5 inches. Should you wish your Christmas Tree pot to be of a different colour, bring a scrap of fabric no smaller than 2 inches x 2 inches per tree o 5-inch x 12-inch strip of plain coloured backing fabric preferably white or beige
Piece of firm batting no smaller than 5 inches x 12 inches
Piece of firm Iron-on interfacing no smaller than 5 inches x 12 inches
Thread: o Sewing machine thread to match your fabrics o Quilting thread to match fabrics - you can also use the same sewing machine thread as above should you wish
Embellishing items to decorate your trees such as beads, sequins, charms, lace, wool, embroidery thread & beading thread (optional)
If you bring beads, ensure you have a needle that will pass through the hole in the beads
