We will firstly create the background for the tree(s). This stylised scene from nature will be created by piecing the different size smaller pieces into 12 bigger squares. The initial 9.5-inch squares will be cut into different sized smaller squares and rectangles. Exact written instructions will be provided in class for the cutting and the arrangement of the newly cut pieces.
These smaller pieces will be sewn together to form the bigger squares and ultimately your quilt top. You will add some raw edge applique to suggest a trunk and branches. If you can cut accurately with your rotary cutter and stitch a precise quarter inch seam allowance, you can do this exciting class.
The optional kit contains thirteen (13) fabric squares of 9.5 inches x 9.5 inches.
Fabric requirements (If optional fabric kit is not purchased): 13-14 squares of 9.5 inches x 9.5 inches depicting/suggesting nature: o Foreground: 4 squares o Middle ground: 3 squares o Leaves: 3 or 4 squares and o Sky: 3 or 4 squares Use a picture or photo as inspiration for the fabric choices.
