We will start the day by making an easy but exciting water-soluble thread bowl that will dry in the sunshine outside. The base is made up of loose entities that will be mastered by certain techniques. A surprise circular decoration will also be made to add some interest to the bowl.
Student Requirements:
The compulsory kit contains Vilene, water-soluble fabric, bling netting and a pattern for the base
- Basic Sewing Supplies
- Fabric:
o Base: 1 x A4 felt (your choice of a favourite colour)
o Backing fabric 2 x A4 (2-3 of your favourite colours)
o Bowl: Variety of creative wool; creative threads/embroidery threads; bird’s nest; scraps of fabric; scraps of bling
- Thread:
o Machine threads to stitch the bowl, etc.
o Choose 2 striking colours of machine thread to stitch your leaves (e.g. purple and lime green)
- Variety of small beads, netting and organza (10 cm x 10 cm each)
- 1 Bowl (poedingbakkie) 13cm diameter x 5 cm deep to mould our flower
- Pair of scissors
- Candle and matches.
- Sewing Machine in good working order;
o appliqué presser foot and
o darning presser foot
- Extension cord, 15 amp plug or adaptor, surge protector plug
