The Hive

In a warehouse, close to the Blackheath station, is The HIVE, part of the Tygerberg Outreach Programme which started in 2001.   People are skills-trained and encouraged to earn a living by covering baskets made by a blind weaver,  and making patchwork and quilted articles.   They do beading, make table mats, toilet sets and curtains.   They have learnt a skill and have a sense of purpose and pride.   All of them are HIV + and counsel one another and receive care and support about their HIV status.  Sadly, the HIVE faces the prospect of closing down if they do not receive funds regularly.  You can help to donate to this worthy cause.
