Good Hope Quilters' Guild

I was elected by the committee to be the Meeting Convenor for Good Hope Quilter' Guild.

I describe my portfolio as follows:

I have to contact a member or chairlady of a group that belongs to the Good Hope Quilters' Guild, and ask them if they are willing to be the group of the quarter and help host the quarterly meeting. I then send them a letter with all the work that must be done. They must supply the quilts to display in the hall on the Saturday of the meeting, and help the exhibition lady to the display them. A spokesperson for the groups talks from the stage about the activities and shows quilts. The group runs the kitchen and must ask their ladies to provide about 80 to 100 sandwiches, neatly wrapped, with an indication of what is on the bread. They also have to provide about 60 – 80 sweet eats. The coffee, tea, milk, sugar and cool drinks and all the kitchen goods are provided by the Guild.

The part of my job I enjoy the most is when the hostess agrees to do the meeting. From then on a relationship starts to build. I learn a lot from every group. Everybody approaches the job given differently and at the end they thoroughly enjoy themselves. They meet new ladies and have to chat with everybody at the “shop”.

Without the willing groups my job would be hopeless! So thanks ladies for being so helpful. Let the meeting convenor be proud of you, you deserve it!
