I first dabbled in Patchwork and Quilting while living in Australia but became a serious quilter on my return to SA. In 1996 I did my first formal workshop and soon after that I joined the GHQG. I have continued to update my knowledge through workshops and in 2005 after an exhibition of several of my quilts at the 150th celebration of St Saviour's Parish Claremont I was requested to start a beginners group at the church. This group continues to go from strength to strength.
I am involved in Outreach in the community covering a variety of areas. I joined the GHQG committee as the Outreach Liaison in 2009. At present I am establishing a Patchwork and Quilting group in Suurbraak in conjunction with several other outreach activities there and with Saartjie Baartman Women's shelter in Athlone. |
