Welcome to Good Hope Quilters Guild

Welcome to the website of the Good Hope Quilters Guild (GHQG).

We are the regional Quilters Guild of the Western Cape and cover areas from Cape Town, Langebaan, Ceres, Koue Bokkeveldt, Swellendam, Montagu, Robertson, Worcester, Hermanus, Stellenbosch, Paarl to Simonstown.

Over 30 smaller quilting guilds and quilting groups fall under the Good Hope Quilters Guild (GHQG) and are affiliated to the South African Quilters Guild (SAQG).

The Good Hope Quilters Guild (GHQG) was established in 1987 to promote the development of quilting in the Western Cape. The first meeting was held on the 29th of October 1987 in the Cosy room of the Methodist Church in Pinelands. The name Good Hope Quilters Guild (GHQG) was adopted and the guild was established.

The founder members at the meeting were: Marianne Cicconi, Merle Llewellyn, Sheila ONeill, June Clapham Jason, Jean Haler, Jenny Hermans, Bernice Steyn, Wanda Carmichael, Debbie Price, Felicity Rooke, Shirley Sisson, Annette de la Porte, Dawn Lyon, Debbie Durrbaum, Denise de Villiers, Jenny Hill, Antionette Coaton, Doreen Watkin, Patsy Tyler, Lesley Jennings, Hazelmay Duncan and Sue Andrews.

The Good Hope Quilters Guild celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2012.
